Cotton Cool

One of five projects to date as part of our ongoing relationship with Novotel (also including London, Cardiff, Glasgow and Leeds).  The complete refurbishment of the ground floor public spaces of the Manchester Novotel was based on a site-specific concept, which played on Manchester’s industrial history, particularly in cotton and textiles, whilst respecting generic branding elements, to create a clean, modern and interesting environment with a strong local identity for the brand’s business and leisure target demographic.  Simple and neutral surfaces were enlivened with bold- coloured furniture, whilst artworks, including photographic abstracts of cotton industry tools, bespoke lighting and major features (such as a bar-front created from hundreds of bobbins of yarn) allude the city’s great textile industry heritage.
